bankmecu encourages consumers to select a responsible approach to car loan finance.
With vehicle sales for the first five months of 2012 up by 8.8% year on year and new vehicles sold totalling a record 112,566,# it seems consumers are taking advantage of the recent car sales.
bankmecu’s Lending Manager, Martyn Norman says “As a customer owned bank, we encourage people to look beyond the finance deals offered at the car yards, which often entice would be buyers on interest rate alone.”
“bankmecu’s responsible approach to banking, means we offer car loan finance with low interest rates and incentives to choose a car which is both safe and generates lower carbon emissions.”
Although the road toll is down by 11% since 16 July 2012 compared to 16 July 2011, young drivers aged under 25 years still make up around 35% of road fatalities.
“To help educate young drivers about safe driving habits, bankmecu offers young drivers who finance their car with us $200 towards an accredited advanced driver training course1.”
“Our responsible approach to motor vehicle finance means doing something positive to address the fact that accidents involving cars are still a major cause of death. So to help turn this situation around we want people to purchase safer cars and we also want our least experienced drivers to be trained in how to drive safely”, said Martyn.
By looking at the ANCAP safety rating and greenhouse rating of a car before you decide to purchase it will ensure your new vehicle is safe, will help lower greenhouse emissions and also save you money.
“While some consumers remain concerned about the impact a carbon price may have on their household budgets, bankmecu customers can secure a lower cost car loan when selecting to purchase a more fuel efficient vehicle”, says Martyn.
