bankmecu acknowledges World Environment Day, which takes place on June 5 every year and aims to be the biggest and most widely celebrated global day for positive environmental action. The 2012 theme for World Environment Day is; Green Economy: Does it include you?
As a customer owned bank, bankmecu is working to integrate our responsible approach to banking and sustainability across the organisation, some examples of how we have been achieving this include;
bankmecu’s Risk Management Co-ordinator Sustainability, Nikki Jordan, encourages all customers to support World Environment Day.
“We can all do our part to protect the planet by using less and acting more, whether its by investing your money more responsibly or taking small initiatives like; stopping the use of plastic bags, walking to the local shops instead of driving, planting a native tree in your garden, using reusable containers for food storage instead of aluminium foil or plastic wrap and switching off all the lights and appliances at the wall, it all makes a difference in helping our planet” say’s Jordan.
