    what is SMS Alerts?

    SMS Alerts is a system which allows you to receive an SMS text or email when certain events are triggered on your accounts. The system also allows you to send an 'on demand' request for and receive certain account information such as account balances, transaction details, interest details via your registered mobile phone number.

    how do I register?

    Firstly you should ensure you have read and understood the SMS Alerts Terms and Conditions which can be found on the bankmecu website. You can then register by logging into bankmecu Internet Banking or by contacting bankmecu on 132 888.

    who can register for SMS Alerts?

    Any customer of bankmecu can register for SMS Alerts.

    can alerts be sent to me by email?

    Yes. Email alerts can be sent however these alerts are only available to Internet Banking users. Email alerts will only be sent to the email address which is setup as your home email.

    will an alert be sent when a I register for alerts?

    An SMS alert will be sent to your mobile phone when registration has been completed.

    what event triggered alerts can I receive?

    There are four different events which can trigger an alert.

    • Direct Credit received – an alert is sent when a direct credit from any supplier is received and successfully posted to any account owned by your customer portfolio.
    • Direct Debit Received – an alert is sent when a direct debit from any supplier is received and successfully posted to any account owned by your customer portfolio.
    • Balance Threshold – an alert is sent when the current balance of the specified account falls outside the low balance or high balance parameter as defined by you. (Low balance – alert is sent if account balance is lower than this amount. High balance – alert is sent if the account balance is higher than this amount).
    • Scheduled Balance Advice – an alert is sent on a regular basis notifying you of the balance of your nominated account. (The options to choose from include – daily, weekly, fortnightly, monthly, quarterly, half yearly, yearly).

    what are on demand requests?

    You request account balances, transaction details and interest details from bankmecu by sending one of the short command codes in an SMS text message to 0428 862 909. (Refer to SMS Alerts information on website at www.bankmecu.com.au.

    can I be registered to send on demand requests without setting up triggered event alerts?

    Yes. Simply register for SMS Alerts but do not setup any of the four triggered events.

    what is the cost of SMS Alerts?

    Each SMS alert message will cost 25 cents.

    are SMS Alert fees included in fee rewards?

    No. SMS Alert fees are not included in monthly rewards.

    when will SMS Alert fees be charged?

    SMS Alert fees will be charged at the end of each day on which alerts are sent.

    how long does it take for SMS Alerts to be sent?

    SMS alerts for both triggered events and on demand requests will be sent immediately.

    how can I cancel my SMS Alert registration?

    You can cancel your SMS Alerts and SMS on demand request online in Internet Banking or by calling bankmecu on 132 888.
