bankmecu now has two options available for our online security.
At least one of these options will be required to process a transaction to a new destination.
If you are registered for SECURE SMS, validation will be required for all new destination transactions that are external funds transfers, internal customer to customer funds transfers or BPAY.
(A new destination transaction is one that is not already listed in your Internet Banking "favourites list", or is listed but the reference number changes with each bill).
For each new destination a "one time" pass code will be sent to your nominated mobile phone or landline (voice message) at the time you are transacting. You will be required to enter this pass code to complete your transaction and therefore verify that it is "authorised by you".
SECURE SMS is the option that all customers should select for use with transaction amounts within our normal transaction limit of $10,000.
VIP Tokens are available to any customers who prefer to use Token validation rather than Secure SMS. VIP Tokens must however be used by customers who regularly transact in amounts above $10,000.
Requests for a Token can be made via Secure Email within Internet Banking or by calling bankmecu on 132 888.
Once the Token is registered, validation will be required for all external funds transfers, internal funds transfers customer to customer and for BPAY transactions.
The purchase cost of a Token is $5.00.
