The Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) is a network-based organisation that has developed the world's most widely used sustainability reporting framework and is committed to its continuous improvement and application worldwide.
This framework sets out the principles and indicators that organisations can use to measure and report their economic, environmental, and social performance.
The framework is set out in the GRI Sustainability Reporting Guidelines. The third version of the Guidelines (G3) was published in 2006 and is available free to the public.
Included in the framework are Sector Supplements. bankmecu utilised the Finance Sector Supplement in the development of the 2009/10 Sustainability Report.
Net Balance conducted a GRI G3 level check as part of the independent assurance process and classified bankmecu's 2009/10 Sustainability Report A+.
