One hundred and nineteen (119) staff members worked in metropolitan Melbourne, 99 in Gippsland, 78 in Western Victoria and a further 46 at service centres located elsewhere around Australia.
Thirteen per cent of staff members were born outside Australia, 12% speak a language at home other than English and 3% have some form of intellectual or physical disability.
bankmecu has a predominantly female workforce with females accounting for 247 of the 342 total employees at year end. Fifty-nine per cent of all employees worked in member service roles with females accounting for 85% of these. The executive team are male. The Board is made up of 7 Directors, of which 1 (Deputy Chairperson) is female.

bankmecu recognises there is a continuing gender imbalance at different employment categories, particularly at the Member Services, Supervisor and Executive levels. bankmecu has a Human Resource Management policy that seeks to address Affirmative Action. This ensures the Credit Union practices non-discrimination and employs the most suitable candidate for a given role. In 2010/11 the percentage of males and females at all employment categories remained consistent with previous years’ reporting. The executive level remains exclusively male, however, there has been no turnover at this level for a number of years.
