Be the Hero

Recently, bankmecu announced a $30,000 investment in the The Victorian Women’s Trust - “Be the Hero” Program. This is an innovative, web-based violence prevention program aimed at young men and conceived, designed and produced by the Victorian Women's Trust.  It has been strongly supported and is currently being utilised by Year 9 students throughout Victorian regional and metropolitan high schools.

The program encourages young men to build respectful relationships with women.  It demonstrates that anyone can be the hero by choosing to live a life free of violence.  The Victorian Women’s Trust goal is to have boys and men all overAustralia know  this program exists and access it as an important tool in building respectful relationships.

This investment was made from bankmecu’s Community Investment Program. The Community Investment Program makes investments on behalf of customers in projects which help develop more resilient communities and build a healthier planet.

In the true spirit of our cooperative structure, investments are made back to the various different communities where bankmecu receives its own support. The program is funded through the allocation of up to 4 per cent of bankmecu’s annual profit.
